7 Reasons Your Grout Still Looks Dirty After You Scrub It
If you've spent a Saturday on your knees with an old toothbrush and the grout still looks gray, start here.
1. It isn't that you didn't scrub hard enough
Grout sits a little lower than the tile and it's porous, so grime and soap film settle into the lines where a sponge glides right over them.
Getting it out takes a lot of small scrubbing strokes in one spot. That's exactly the part your arm gives up on.
2. Why the toothbrush and the hand brush wear you out
An old toothbrush reaches into the line but cleans about an inch at a time. A stiff hand brush covers more, but only if you press hard, and your wrists and knees pay for it.
Sprays help loosen soap scum. Something still has to scrub it off the grout, and so far that something has been you.
3. Let the drill make the strokes
Click a brush head into the cordless drill you already own. The drill spins the bristles far faster than you can scrub by hand, so you guide the brush along the line instead of pushing.
Same cleaner, same grout. More strokes, a lot less of your arm.
4. Three shapes for three kinds of dirt
The flat disc covers floors and tub walls. The round brush gets into corners and along the tub edge. The cone reaches tight spots around faucets and between wheel spokes.
Spray your cleaner, start the drill on low, work one line at a time and wipe.

5. What it won't do (read this before you order)
The drill isn't included. The hex shank fits most cordless drills and drivers. Start on low speed, keep the brush wet and wear eye protection, because it can splatter.
The bristles are medium nylon for tile, grout, porcelain and wheels. Test a hidden spot first, press lightly, and skip glossy paint, soft plastics, shower glass and delicate finishes. It won't fix grout that's cracked or stained all the way through.
6. Rinse it and use it again
No pads or refills. Rinse the heads after each use and let them air dry.
Use it on tile grout, tubs, shower floors, stovetops, wheels, tires and floor mats. Not on painted car body panels.
7. Two sets for $25
